Since 1985 FSMTA has recognized that there is a need for a standard basic training in Pre & Post Event Massage for those therapists across the State of Florida who wish to participate and provide massage at athletic events. This training includes guidelines for policies and procedures for operating a sports massage team; protocol in preparing for and conducting an event; basic first aid; techniques for performing pre and post event massage and time for hands-on practice.
Sports Massage Team Requirements
- Be a member in good standing of the FSMTA;
- Active massage therapy license (LMT) in the State of Florida;
- Must have taken the FSMTA Official Sports Massage Team Training course;
- Must have current professional liability insurance;
- Be willing to adhere to policies and procedures and techniques as set down by the Sports Massage Committee/Director
- Supply personal equipment needed to operate at any event.

FSMTA Sports Massage Training Objectives
